Department Definition

The Communications department handles all external communications, including earned news, public relations, media relations, editing, translation, and other writing (e.g. web stories, thought leadership), as well as attracting media to attend and cover the event and manage their facilities and services. The key purpose of the department is to communicate Expo 2020 Dubai news to media, locally, regionally and internationally, to generate positive coverage, which translates into achieving our goal of 25 million visits during the six-month event.

Opportunity Responsibilities

 

The Manager of Photography Operations will be part of the Media Operations team who are responsible for planning and delivering all media facilities and services required for accredited media attending the Expo, and specifically, the key photography operations: the Photo workroom, Photographers’ involvement in media conferences and photo positions around the site.

Main responsibilities for this role include:

- Assist the Media Services team with the Photographer validation captured through the media accreditation process;

- Contribute in refining procedural frameworks for Photography Operations including procedures, processes, guidelines, risk assessments and policies where required;

- Assist in the recruitment, training, leading and motivation of a team of paid and volunteer staff to support the Photography Operations, remote photo positions and planned media opportunities;

- Look after the needs of Photographers on-site to make sure their requirements are met;

- Oversee the submission of Photographer rate card bookings and assist with queries;

- Assist in the engagement with photographic media personnel at all levels to assist them in their planning, when on-site and for all stages throughout their Expo 2020 journey;

- Liaise with the international and national news agencies in the lead up to the Event;

- Assist in collection and collation of Spectrum requirements;

- Contribute to the Photography Operations sections of media guides and manuals.

 

Skills

 

5+ years experience working in a Photography Operations team at international events, as well as:

- A Bachelor’s Degree holder, preferable within a relevant field;

- Experience working in a Photography Operations team at International events;

- Knowledge and experience with media accreditation applications and validations for large-scale international events;

- Experience of working in and with large organising committees;

- Experience of working with Broadcast organisations and Host Broadcasters;

- Training experience;

- Cultural intelligence.
